How do I book a cruise?
You are already most of the way there by visiting my web site! Just fill out the Quote Request Form and send it. I will respond promptly and provide you the facts, figures, and details to book your cruise.
How do I make a reservation?
Once you have received my quote for the cruise you desire, give me a call to discuss the details of cabin assignment and payment. To actually confirm your reservation, a deposit is required. The amount varies depending upon the length of the cruise. If a cabin has been placed on hold, a deposit is usually due within 7 days or less. Final payments are usually due 60 days prior to sailing but special or holiday sailings require final payments 90 to 120 days prior to sailing. The requirements do vary from cruise line to cruise line so always call me for details.
How should I pay? Can I use my credit card?
You may pay by credit card, cashier's check, or money order. Most cruise lines accept Visa, MasterCard, Optima, Diner's Club, Discover, and American Express. Credit card charges are made directly to the cruise line not Blue OdysSea Cruises. However, if paying by cashier's check or money order, those should be made out to Blue OdysSea Cruises as I must, in turn, write an agency check to the cruise line. (They will not accept customer payments other than credit cards.)
Will the price change?
Every cruise line reserves the right to change prices without notice. However, if you have confirmed your booking with a deposit or have made your final payment, your price will be protected. The good news is that many cruise lines will grant you a lower price if the price should drop. Some will do this even after final payment has been made! See FAQ on "Can I get a better deal by waiting until two months or less before the cruise?".
Can I get a better deal by waiting until two months or less before the cruise?
This is rare. However, if you have booked early and rates do drop, we can still get you the lower rate! (Certain restrictions do apply!) Folks have waited to the last minute to book and got great deals but those are the exceptions, not the rule. The rule is that most rates close to sailing are near or at brochure rates and availability is poor for cabin selection. Also for some cruises, there may not be enough time to clear the security screening if booked within days of the cruise.
If I have to cancel my cruise, will I get my money back?
All moneys put down on the cruise will be refunded if the cruise line receives a written notice of cancellation 75 or more days prior to sailing. (Holiday and special sailings will require 90 to 120 day notification. World cruises will involve some penalty no matter when the cancellation is made.) After the full refund date (usually the final payment date), penalties will be assessed by the cruise line until 7 or less days prior to sailing when no refund will be issued. I strongly encourage you to purchase trip interruption/cancellation insurance to avoid most of the unpleasantries of having to cancel a cruise during the penalty period or after the cruise has begun.
When should I book my cruise?
The general rule of thumb is to book your cruise a year or more in advance. This will assure you of the least expensive rates and the best cabin selection. All cruise lines incrementally increase rates the closer it gets to sailing. By booking early, you secure a lower rate plus you can pick from every available cabin on the ship. Caution: If you are wanting to do an Alaska cruise, this is extremely important. Most cruise lines sell out their ships for Alaska cruises. Most cruise lines also sell out their ships for the Caribbean with some exceptions. Call me for details.
